1. Guidance Notes on Completing the Application Form

Decisions around suitability for shortlisting / interview for a post will be based on your application form.  It is important that you complete this fully and relate it to the requirements of the job as far as possible.

We are not able to accept CVs unless the job advert specifically states that CVs will be accepted.

The Job Description

This document describes the roles and responsibilities of the job.  It will describe the main purpose of the job and will list the tasks and duties which you will be expected to perform if you are appointed.  You should refer to the Job Description when completing the section entitled "Supplementary Information" on the application form in order to explain how you meet the requirements of the post.  Please give specific examples of your knowledge, skills and experience rather than just putting "I meet all the requirements of the post".

You will need to provide details of two referees, one of whom must be your current or, if you are not currently employed, your most recent employer.  The second referee should also be from a previous employer.  If this is not possible please provide a personal reference - this should not be from a Fylde Community Link employee, a relative or person who only knows you as a friend.  Ensure that the referees you provide know your capabilities and can comment on your reliability.

Additional Pages

If you need to continue a section on an additional page, please ensure that this page contains the following information at the top of the page:

  • your full name
  • the post you are applying for
  • the section which you are continuing on the additional page (e.g. Employment Details)

Once you have finished filling in your application form, please check it to ensure that it is accurate and complete.  It is a good idea to make a copy to keep, in case you are called for interview.  Return the application form (before the closing date, if applicable) to:

2. Preparing for Interview

Here are a few tips for preparing for interview, which will hopefully make the process easier and ensure you perform at your best:

  • Take time to research Fylde Community Link and the social care sector.  It is a good idea to familiarise yourself with the Organisation's mission statement as a minimum.
  • Read through the Job Description, Person Specification and your application form and think about what sort of questions you may be asked at the interview. Try and prepare some answers based on your knowledge and previous experience.
  • Familiarise yourself with where the interview is being held and try and find out about where you can park, or public transport arrangements.
  • Ensure that you take your certificates and identification to your first stage interview.
